CBF Specialist Radio Program Grants

Please use this form to apply for a Specialist Radio Program grant.

Specialist Radio Programming (SRP) refers to established ongoing, regular or new programs that deliver a specific service, not otherwise provided by broadcasters, to a local community.

This funding support is designed to encourage stations to carry specialist radio programming. It assists with the development, production and broadcast costs of specialist programming content to meet the needs of particular communities. Funding is available for Specialist Radio Programming as below:

Radio reading (formerly RPH) programs to serve people with a print disability*
Ethnic programs to serve a defined local ethnic community
First Nations Australians programs.

*Please note there is no Radio Reading budget for Radio Reading (RPH) Specialist Radio Programs commencing in Round 2, as the funding stream was fully allocated in Round 1. Radio Reading funding will be available for Specialist Radio Programs in Round 1 2027/28 and we recommend you apply then. Please contact the Grants Support Team for more information.

These grants are distributed twice per year, with the greater portion allocated in Round 1.

Our grant guidelines and our Frequently Asked Questions detail everything you need to know about Specialist Radio Programming grants, including the need for stations to consult with broadcasters.

Before you start your application, make sure you preview the Specialist Radio Programming application form and guidelines.

You will receive advice by email about the outcome of your application in November 2026.
