The next round of Small Equipment grants opens for application on 23 May, 2016
Funds are available to provide special assistance to low income community radio stations in Australia, through grants to purchase small items of equipment.
Consideration of General Grants is the responsibility of the General Grants Advisory Committee (GGAC).
We strongly encourage you to discuss your project with the relevant CBF Grants Administrator before submitting your application. They can provide advice on the types of projects funded in this category and what information you should include in your application.

Please read these grant guidelines before you apply. Even if you frequently apply under this category, read them each round, as the grant guidelines are regularly revised. The grant guidelines include important information about this grant category including what you can use the grant for and the criteria used by the General Grants Advisory Committee to assess your application.
1. What is the objective of the General - Special Small Equipment grant category?
To provide special assistance to low income community radio stations in Australia, through grants to purchase small items of equipment.
2. Who is eligible to apply?
Stations with an income over $85,000 should not apply in this category.
Grants are not available to stations broadcasting under a narrowcast licence. A station with a temporary licence must have been on air for at least two years cumulatively prior to applying. Additional conditions are imposed on temporary licensees with regard to ownership of assets purchased with the grant.
3. How much can you apply for?
Up to $2,500. Only one application per station can be submitted.

5. What can you use the grant for?
To purchase items of broadcast equipment such as portable recorders, laptop computers, microphones, headphones. You can apply for more than one item of equipment, up to a value of $2,500.
6. What can't you use the grant for?
Transmission related costs - you should apply under Transmission Support Grants. For transmission equipment costs apply under Transmission Equipment grants and for transmission operational costs apply under Transmission Operational Subsidy grants.
Training of station personnel - you should apply under the Training Delivery grants category

8. What should you include in the application?
Quotes from three suppliers for each piece of requested equipment
A weekly program schedule that clearly highlights which programs are produced at your station and presented by volunteers and which programs are sourced from outside your station (e.g. automated via satellite, networks etc.)
Most recent Annual Report with audited financial statements, even if you have supplied this information to the CBF previously.
