Funds are available to assist with the sustainability and development of Australian community broadcasting through individual station promotional activity to increase station profiles in local areas.

Guidelines for Sustainability & Development - Promote Your Station grants

 

 

Please read these grant guidelines before you apply.  The grant guidelines include important information about this grant category including what you can use the grant for and the criteria used by the General Grants Advisory Committee to assess your application.

 

 

1. What is the objective of the Sustainability & Development - Promote Your Station grant category?

 

To support the development of community broadcasting sector branding and increase station profiles, particularly in local areas.

 

This category aims to provide funding for marketing and profile building activities to encourage increased audience figures, sponsorship opportunities and fundraising opportunities.

 

Activities will differ from station to station, but may include awareness campaigns, events, merchandising, special on-air presentations and other innovative and exciting means to increase the station profile in the local region.

 

 

2. Who is eligible to apply?

 

You can apply for a Sustainability & Development - Promote Your Station grant if you are:

 

  • community broadcasting station with a long term or temporary license with an income of less than $85,000 in its previous financial year.

 

 

A station with a temporary license must have been on air for at least two years cumulatively prior to applying.

 

Stations with an income over $85,000 should not apply in this category.

 

 

3. How much can you apply for?

 

Up to $2,000. Only one application per station can be submitted.

 

 

4. What are the priorities in this grant category?

 

We will prioritise:

 

  • Stations with cash reserves of less than $100,000
  • Stations producing more than 50 hours per week of local programming. Local programming is considered programming that is produced for your station, broadcast for the first time by a presenter in your studio. It does not include pre-scheduled music content.
  • Stations that serve rural, regional, remote and sub-metro communities.
  • Stations who have not received a grant in this category before.

 

 

5. What can you use the grant for?

 

The purchase of items and/or services directly related to station promotional activity. This might include, but is not limited to; merchandise, event costs such as venue and equipment hire, printing of materials, administration (maximum 10% of grant funds), local travel (maximum of 5% of grant funds).

 

 

6. What can't you use the grant for?

 

  • Programs that are currently or more appropriately funded in other CBF grant categories.
  • Station operational costs.
  • Overseas travel.
  • Studio equipment.
  • Costs that could easily be met by a station’s in-kind contribution such as studio hire fees and admin staff work time.
  • Contingency costs.

 

 

7. What should you include in the application?

 

  • Most recent Annual Report with audited financial statements
