TVGAC Nominations

Submissions closed at midnight 5 December 2012 (AEDT).

The Television Grants Advisory Committee (TVGAC) is a committee of the Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF) appointed by the CBF Board with current members nominated from sector organisations the Australian Community Television Alliance (ACTA) and the Australian Indigenous Communications Association (AICA). It makes recommendations to the CBF Board in relation to community television grants, including TV Content Production grants for the production of new, participatory and innovative community television programs. A total of $300,000 is available to allocate in 2012/13.

The committee is currently made up of three members. The CBF now seek to appoint an additional member with experience in various aspects of community television content production, preferably working across a range of diverse community television projects.

For assistance in completing this form please see links to further information below.

Committment required from committee members

TVGAC membership requires a sizeable time commitment, including attendance at meetings, preparation time and travel, as summarised below. Committee members are asked to make every effort to attend all meetings. Participation is on a voluntary basis, however the CBF meets all travel and accommodation costs.

  • In person meetings - TVGAC meets at least once per year for a whole day meeting. Meetings are generally held in Melbourne at the CBF offices.
  • Teleconferences - Occasional telephone conferences may also be required.
  • Meeting preparation - Further time is required (approximately 50 hours per year) from TVGAC members in the form of reading and assessing grant submissions online prior to a grant consideration meeting and some follow up in between meetings via the CBF’s internal online communication system, HQ.
  • Travel time - Members need to factor in the travel time required to attend meetings.

TVGAC representation on the CBF Board

The CBF Board appoints a Chair and Board Director to the Committee. This representative is also required to attend quarterly Board meetings and occasional teleconferences.

TVGAC nomination timeline

The CBF seeks to appoint an additional member to TVGAC for a two year term.

The nominations will be assessed by the current committee with a recommendation made to the Board to appoint a new member in December 2012.

TVGAC expect to meet in person in:

  • December 2012 to review grant guidelines to open January 2013; and
  • April 2013 to assess the grant round closing March.
