Applications are accepted twice a year in March and September.
Consideration of Amrap Grants is the responsibility of the Australian Music Grants Advisory Committee (AMGAC).

Amrap Grant Guidelines - Round 2 2011/12
Read these grant guidelines before you apply. The grant guidelines include important information about this grant category including what you can use the grant for and the criteria used by the Australian Music Grants Advisory Committee to assess your application.
1. What is the objective of the Amrap grant category?
To promote contemporary Australian music through the community radio broadcasting sector.
Contemporary Australian music content in this instance is defined as any genre of music written, composed or performed by Australians.
2. Who is eligible to apply?
- a community radio station with a long-term or a temporary licence
- a Remote Indigenous Media Organisation, applying on behalf of RIBS stations
Creative partnerships between stations and organisations whose goals are compatible with those of Amrap are encouraged, however the application must come from the station.
A station with a temporary licence must have been on air for at least two years cumulatively prior to applying. Additional conditions are imposed on temporary licensees with regard to ownership of assets purchased with the grant.
3. How much can you apply for?
Up to $10,000 per grant. Only one application per station can be submitted per grant round.
4. What are the priorities in this category?
Each priority is not required to be met but applications that do address one or more priority area will be looked on more favourably.
- Reflect the diversity of Australian music in terms of genre, culture, language, age, gender and geographical location.
- Involve local, up and coming or emerging Australian musicians.
- Commit to producing and making available content to the sector in the future.
- Provide sustainable outcomes for the station/communities/sector that will continue beyond the life of this funding.
- Demonstrate an innovative approach to meeting the needs of your station/communities/sector.
- Establish creative partnerships between stations, businesses and organisations whose goals are compatible with those of community broadcasting.
5. What can you use the grant for?
Funds are available to support the promotion of contemporary Australian music and musicians at community broadcasting stations. This may be facilitated through Amrap's services and national satellite services including the Community Radio Network (CRN) and the National Indigenous Radio Service (NIRS).
Examples of what the funds can be used for:
- Assist station to make best use of Amrap services including AirIt, Amrap Pages, CD Mailout and other contemporary Australian music airplay resources.
- Establish projects between the Australian music industry, community groups, business, the wider community and the community broadcasting sector.
- Record, re-broadcast and distribute live Australian music.
- Produce, re-broadcast and distribute short content pieces promoting contemporary Australian music.
- Develop tools and resources to assist the community broadcasting sector to promote contemporary Australian music.
- Promote contemporary Australian music programs, content and initiatives.
6. What can't you use the grant for?
- Event management costs. Stations holding live music events can submit a grant application to support recording / broadcasting the event. However the costs of holding the event are ineligible for Amrap funds (e.g. staging, venue hire, performance fees, front-of-house mixing, promotions, etc.).
- CD duplication costs. Only one master copy is required for Amrap, CRN and NIRS who will duplicate for re-broadcast solely for distribution to community broadcasting stations.
- Compilation of archival material.
- Recording, production or promotions of non-contemporary and non-Australian music.
- Station-based on-air announcements or in-house promotions.
- Equipment which you have previously been funded to purchase under Amrap.
- Programs, projects and positions that are currently or more appropriately funded in other CBF grant categories.
7. What does the Grants Advisory Committee look at when assessing your application?
Applications will be competitively assessed according to the following criteria:

8. What should you include in the application?
- Quotes from suppliers (if relevant)
- Other supporting documents (if relevant)
- Most recent Annual Report with audited financial statements (if not previously supplied)
- Certificate of Incorporation (if not previously supplied)
- Organisation's budget for current financial year (if not previously supplied)
What conditions apply?
- Funds are for the promotion of contemporary Australian music content only, defined as any genre of music written, composed or performed by Australians.
- Any music content you record or produce must not be made available as a commercial release.
- Any music content you record or produce must be broadcast on the applicant station.
- Projects which provide content to Amrap, CRN or NIRS must also supply the appropriate artist release forms and support materials (project and artists' profiles, cue sheets and written intros & outros) available at www.amrap.org/grants.
- Content intending to be re-broadcast on CRN or NIRS require confirmation that a time to re-broadcast on the satellite network will be made available, they can be found at www.cbaa.org.au/crn and www.nirs.org.au.
- Content should be relevant to audiences beyond your own station. Please note that station identifiers should only be included in the written support materials supplied to Amrap, CRN or NIRS.
- Content produced must also include acknowledgement of the CBF's financial support in the following form "Produced for Amrap with the assistance of the Community Broadcasting Foundation".
- Projects must be completed 6 months after receiving the grant unless otherwise defined in the grant application.

- Broadcast standards and technical requirements (e.g. how to produce a master CD).
